Wilton Go Green is 100% Volunteer-Operated!

Every dollar that comes in directly supports our mission to:

  1. engage the community in initiatives and programs that advance a culture of conservation and
  2. educate residents, schools, and businesses about best practices, thereby
  3. promote & support efforts by the Town of Wilton and other Wilton organizations to achieve environmental sustainability.

Notable Accomplishments and Initiatives in 2021:

  • Launched our Do One Thing Campaign engaging over 100 residents.
  • Updated and launched our Sustainability in Business program certifying six local business to date.
  • Held a successful and wide-reaching “Make Your March Green: A Sustainable Living Series" virtual events in March engaging over 300 CT residents.
  • Presented on the Waste Crisis in CT and the solutions we have including recycling right and reducing food waste to eight community organizations engaging over 200 residents in Wilton and surrounding towns.
  • Held three Green Speaker Series events focusing on protecting our natural habitats, reducing our dependence on plastic and climate solutions.
  • Honored our first Wilton High School Senior with a $500 scholarship.
  • Brought back our Zero Waste Schools Initiative at the start of this school year along with our Fall Zero Waste Week educating our school families on zero waste practices for home and school
  • Greatly expanded our social media presence, including spotlighting local, sustainably-minded businesses and organizations. We now have over 1,000 followers on Instagram and Facebook.
  • Tabled at multiple community events teaching attendees about reducing waste, recycling right and reducing food waste.
  • Held our First Annual Halloween Costume exchange with partnerships from Wilton Moms Club, Working Moms of Wilton and Woodcock Nature Center
